Today, the mere fact that humans exist and that we have our feet firmly planted on earth proves that our planet seldom collides with other planets. Planets rotate within their own fixed orbit. Thankfully.

People also rotate through predictable spaces and places -- the majority of RCMP once shared a common orbit affectionately known as 'Depot'. Even after fifty or more years, our familiarity of the place cannot easily be tilted off track.

And so, it was friendship and familiarity that ignited a wonderful surprise for me when I received a note from fellow RCMP Vet Reg.# 21648, retired Staff Sergeant Jim Scott.

Jim wrote, "Hey Joe, my name is Jim Scott (Rtd S/Sgt Reg.#21648) and while trying to locate a Troopmate, Keith Madill, I finally located him on your Graves Website, under: Victor Keith Madill, Reg.#21645.

Keith Madill, Willy Kitzler, Jim Treliving and I joined up in Winnipeg, MB on November 4, 1960. I was hoping to learn where Keith served in "D", when he left the Force, when he died, and I wonder whether you might be able to tell me where I might find these details? Thanks, Joe. Sincerely, Jim."

I was able to provide Jim Scott with some details concerning his Troopmate's death and the probable location of Keith Madill's grave.Later, Jim told me a great story about their Troop Reunion and that another Troopmate, Reg.#21647, Jim Treliving of TV's Dragon's Den also attended.

I had previously heard on TV that Jim Treliving had been a member of the Force, but my surprise was that Jim Scott and Jim Treliving were 'ole Troopmates.

My next surprise arrived via Fed Ex -- Jim Treliving's professional photo -- a kind and class act from a Troop with two Jim's; Jim Scott andJim Treliving. Thank you Gentlemen! I deeply appreciate your kindness.

And now, I am taking my wife out for pizza -- Boston Pizza.

Planets, people and pizza -- it's a wonderful world when all three collide.
